Discover Lumix
The headlight, piece by piece.
What is inside, how it is built and what actually changes while you work. No slogans: the numbers, the materials and the choices, one by one.
The problem
The light you have doesn't reach where you look.
Your head casts a shadow
The surgical lamp sits above and behind you. The moment you lean over the field, your head and shoulders get in the way: the shadow falls exactly on the spot you are looking at. You move, you chase it, you move again.
Cavities stay dark
Light arriving from the side lights the rim but not the bottom. In a deep cavity, in a canal, behind a tooth, the beam stops at the wall and what matters to you stays in shadow.
The colour lies
Warm lights push the tones towards yellow, cold ones towards blue. Either way the tissue you see is not the tissue that is there, and you make your judgement on altered information.
The beam
Two LEDs. One hundred and twenty thousand lux.
Lumix carries two LEDs instead of one. Together they reach 120,000 lux.
The difference from a ceiling lamp is where the source sits. The surgical lamp lights from above and behind you, and when you lean in you are the one casting the shadow. Here the light starts from your forehead: it moves with your head and stays pointed where you are looking.
The light is white at 5500 K: with no warm or cold cast, tissue keeps the colour it really has.
See all the features
- 120,000luxbeam intensity at full power
- 5500kelvinwhite light, with no warm or cold cast
- 142gramsdistributed over the band, not on the forehead
The magnifications
Three lenses. Two are included.
The headlight arrives with the 1.5x lens already fitted and a second lens of your choice, included in the price. You can add the third one straight away or later on.
-
1.5x
Included as standard
The widest field of the three and the greatest depth of focus: it is the magnification that leaves the most room to move.
-
2.5x
Included, or the 3.5x instead
The middle ground: more magnification than the 1.5x, a wider field and greater depth of focus than the 3.5x.
-
3.5x
Included, or the 2.5x instead
The highest magnification of the three, and therefore the narrowest field of view and the shallowest depth of focus.
The higher the magnification, the narrower the field and the shallower the depth of focus: that is optics, and it holds for any system. Which is why having two lenses to choose between matters more than having a single very powerful one.
On your head
The lightest in the world. 142 grams.
One hundred and forty-two grams make Lumix the lightest headlight in the world. But the weight itself matters less than where you put it: here most of the mass is distributed over the band, not resting on the forehead, and the pressure spreads around the whole circumference of the head instead of concentrating on one point.
The band is adjustable and stays where you set it. It is compatible with glasses: if you wear prescription or protective lenses you don't have to choose between seeing and protecting yourself.
The battery unit sits at the back, not the front. It is there to balance: without a counterweight a headlight tends to slide forward every time you lean in, and that — not the grams — is what you feel in your neck at the end of the day.
Power
Two batteries. One works, one waits for you.
No cable trailing behind you
The power is on board. There is no wire running from your head to a socket, nothing to snag when you turn and nothing limiting how far you can move around the chair.
One in use, one charging
The box contains two 2500 mAh batteries. While you use one, the other is charging. When the first runs out you swap it and carry on, without waiting for a recharge.

- Dental hygienists — where what you need to see sits in a spot the ceiling light never reaches.
- Veterinary surgeons — oral cavities of very different sizes, often with no dedicated lamp available.
- Anyone working outside the practice — home visits, poorly equipped clinics, field missions: you carry the light with you.
